Lorene Boyd

GROW Consultant

Lorene joined the CITRS team in August 2021 where she serves as a GROW Model consultant. She was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, attended and graduated from Buffalo Public Schools, and presently resides in Cheektowaga, New York.  Lorene received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Buffalo State College, a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, and a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. She was also accepted and briefly enrolled in the Doctoral program in Education Leadership at D’Youville College, in Buffalo, New York.

Lorene retired from the Buffalo Board of Education School District in 2019, after serving 34 years with the district as a substitute teacher, school counselor, supervisor/ hearing officer (formal suspension hearings), and school administrator (Dean of Students). Lorene has been teaching character education to students, administrators, faculty, staff, and parents for about 17 years. She has always had a “great love and passion” for character education and has been an “strong advocate and one of the champions” to have this initiative implemented into the Buffalo Public School District. Lorene has years of experience and training in the areas of character education, social, emotional, and wellness supports, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS), trauma, restorative circles, mindfulness, school safety, classroom management, suspension alternatives, data collection (attendance/discipline), and educational school law.

Presently, Lorene serves on the Board of Directors for Character Council of Western New York in which she serves on the outreach, youth leadership conference, and social media committees.
